Make sure your fall or winter visit to western Maryland includes an exploration of Hagerstown. Pleasant and charming, Hagerstown is home to some of the state’s premier destinations – don’t miss the Washington County Museum of Fine Arts, or the Hagerstown City Park, which will be particularly vibrant thanks to the must-see fall foliage.
On September 11th, visit the Hagerstown Fairgrounds and check out the 10th Annual Hispanic Festival. From noon to 6 p.m. you’ll be treated to a full day of authentic food, games, dance, music, and more. It’s a great way to spend an afternoon with the whole family in Hagerstown. Plan your stay in Hagerstown for early October and enjoy an evening of gut-busting laughs. Head to The Maryland Theatre on October 1st at 8 p.m. to see comedians Colin Mochrie and Brad Sherwood on their Two Man Group tour. Tickets on sale now!
If you’re planning further ahead into 2017, you’re in luck – The Maryland Theatre will be hosting a live performance of Romantic Rachmaninoff, as performed by the Maryland Symphony Orchestra on February 11th. The show starts at 8 p.m., and the featured guest this year is artist Andrew Staupe.
When your western MD visit this fall has you in College Park, you’ll have quick and easy access into nearby DC. On November 19th the U Street Music Hall will feature Trevor Hall live on stage. This all ages show starts at 8 p.m.
Any fall visit to College Park will yield one very stark truth – this is Terrapins territory. The University of Maryland Terrapins football team kicks off their 2016 campaign with a home game against the Howard University Bison on September 3rd. They’ll play through the end of November with some huge games along the way – the Michigan State Spartans will visit College Park on October 22nd, and on November 12th the Ohio State Buckeyes will pay the Terrapins a visit. All Terrapins home games are played at Maryland Stadium.
