Ward Museum of Wildfowl Art
The vibrant city of Salisbury, the largest city in southeast Maryland, is home to a wonderful variety of parks, attractions, and museums. Whether spending time with the family at the Salisbury Zoo or strolling through the Ward Museum of Wildfowl Art, there is plenty to do.
Take your time touring the 4.5-acre center, located along Schumaker Pond, east of downtown Salisbury. Step inside the 12,000-square-foot museum to view the largest public collection of antique and decorative decoys in the world. Museum visitors have enjoyed viewing wildfowl art and the work of decoy carvers since 1975, when the museum was established by the Ward Foundation.
By 2000, the foundation became an affiliate of Salisbury University. While in the museum, browse the Decoy Study Gallery, the Decoy in Time Gallery, and view a film in the Habitat Theater. After touring the inside of the museum, spend a few minutes walking along the nature trail, drop a fishing line off the pier, or attend an educational program underneath the open-air outdoor pavilion.
