Maryland State House

The Maryland State House was once the location of the Nation's capital, the "First Peacetime Capitol". Since the Maryland General Assembly continues to meet here every year, the State House is the Nation's oldest state capitol sill in legislative use. In 1783, George Washington resigned his commission, before the Continental Congress in the State House. The State House also includes the offices for the state Governor, Lieutenant Governor and Speaker of the House.

Visitors begin their tour of the State House in the Visitor Center in the Archives Room. Another must-see while in Annapolis, is the Annapolis National Cemetery established in 1862 by Abraham Lincoln. Annapolis Travelers rest comfortably after a day of touring the area, with Best Western hotels.
